A Teachers Workroom

We've had a Media Center and a VBS Room. They were pretty cool room. The Media Center had every form of media, since, well, the beginning of time :) The VBS room had EVERYTHING that one could possibly WANT to use to decorate for VBS.

Well, it was bound to happen. We began applying the rule. You know the rule ... if you haven't touched in "___"number of days, throw it out. Or move it to storage. Either way, we have created space for three new classrooms, a children's worship room, and a teachers workroom.

If you are a teacher, or you are thinking about teaching, this room will become your good friend. It is clean, organized, VERY WELL STOCKED, and best of all, located smack-dab in our new children's area. Kathy Doshier has spent MANY hours helping me organize, clean, straighten, and categorize all of our materials.

So now, our Media Center and VBS rooms are gone. But the intention of many wonderful women that went before us still remains in our teachers workroom and children's wing, that is to lead children to Christ through creative storytelling and strong relationships.

Come up Sunday and take a look during Open House. Even though we still have work to do, you will be excited about the whole new layout of the rooms.

Summer of service - remodel

As you all know, we have been remodeling a section of our building in order to create a space for elementary Bible classes. This week, we had cabinets installed, so, tonight your children helped to put supplies away into the cabinets. You should be proud of your kids. They worked hard to put things away, sweep and mop the construction dust from the floors, and organize our supplies. Give your kids a pat on the back. I thank them for their hard work.

Storytelling room

Every Sunday morning, one group of children will travel to the story room. Elesa mason has been painting this mural as the primary backdrop in the story room. This room will have a three dimensional tree and other decorations to pull kids into the story. It will be used as a story room in other classes during the week, too! Come to open house and learn more about our Sunday morning program, as well as our other classes.

Elementary Children's Wing Mural

I've mentioned the mural a few times in previous posts. Here is the scoop. Stephen Wells, our Impact minister has designed and is coordinating the addition of the mural to our new children's wing. This came about after we chatted about how one company wanted to charge us A LOT of money to put this mural on our wall. Stephen saw it as an opportunity to serve and he offered to coordinate the project carried out by volunteers from our church.

I'm excited about how much more friendly this will make our elementary children's wing. BUT, we still need you! Watch out for paint day announcements and be sure to come. Even if you find a few free minutes, call me. Stephen will leave assignments as often as possible for us to carry out while he is at Impact.

Classroom decorations

Not only will the hallways be decorated, so will the interior of the classrooms. Elesa mason is painting the worship 411 logo. Reese begged his way into her arms while I was painting in the hallway.

Have you been upstairs in the new elementary wing lately? Stephen Wells has outlined the mural on the wall! Yeah, Stephen. He tells me we are ready to start painting on Thursday. Yes, we'll have childcare. Time is coming soon. I need your help! Really! We are doing this for the kids! Besides, it'll be a blast.

Update on the children's wing

So, I just checked out the elementary Children's wing and it looks great! The fresh paint brightened up the space. Before too long we will begin to add decorations in the rooms, furniture and teaching supplies. Before then, we will set up the new media center.

Tha above picture is a worker laying tile in one of the classrooms. This room will probably become the craft/snack room as well as the Knights For Christ room.

This is the front view if the stage area for worship 411 and the theater rotation.

The risers are being carpeted for the children to sit on during class. With the riser system, we should be able to put alot of kids in this room.

Construction continues: Friday!

The work crew continues to work hard on the new elementary wing. Below are pictures of the work in progress. The first picture is the new teacher workroom. They are installing a tile floor to make clean up easy. The second picture is the new worship 411 room. These risers are really fun and I think the kids will enjoy them. The bottom two risers even have hidden storage! Carri Tacker drew up the design and i cant wait to see the final product. The last picture is one of the new classrooms, it is painted and nearly complete!

New elementary wing

Yesterday was a very busy day with the remodel. We completely cleared out the media center and the contractors began building the worship 411 stage. So far, the cabinets have been moved onto the cleaned out VBS room, a wall has been installed creating the new classroom space, the ceiling has been raised in the VBS room, and some organization of supplies. Eventually, we will have a new workroom, a children's worship room for worship 411 and three new classrooms. We want to make this space very creative and kid friendly so be praying about how you may help.
